Q & A

I’m an elementary school teacher. Will there be workshops appropriate for me?
Yes, you’ll find numerous pre-conference workshops and main conference sessions just right for you – and so will every other participant! That’s the beauty of BLC: something for everyone. Our skilled presenters and lively participants represent all levels of the school spectrum, and they come together to share information and practical ideas for motivating greater learning in students of all abilities. Topics that elementary teachers might find especially interesting are critical thinking, online community building and global partnerships. Just search the sessions using our great conference app.

I’m bringing my family. What activities can they do while I'm at the conference?
Boston has all sorts of highlights: the Freedom Trail, whale watching, shopping downtown and Faneuil Hall, to name a few. Ask the hotel concierge for maps and details. The Park Plaza Hotel & Towers is within walking distance to the Boston Commons and the Freedom Trail. Several great tours are available, and the stop for the Old Town Trolley Tour is just across the street. Check out these links for more information: What to do in Boston  |  Boston Event Calendar
Will the conference be wireless? Should I bring my own device?
Yes, there will be several ways to connect wirelessly. All workshops and sessions, along with 24-hour “Internet Cafés” in designated meeting rooms, will have wireless connectivity. Free wireless will also be available in the lobby, on the mezzanine and on the fourth floor, around the clock. For an additional hotel charge, you can also connect from your room.
I see that registration takes place Wednesday morning. I’m supposed to be going to a pre-conference master class. Won't I need to register before that?
Yes, we’ve thought of that! For people attending a pre-conference master class, we’ve streamlined the registration process: when you pick up your pre-conference master class materials prior to the event, you will also receive your main conference materials. No further action is needed.
I'm a school leader and I want to take back as much information as possible. Will there be handouts available to me?
Yes, we will post as much material from our presenters as possible on this website following the conference. Still, taking great notes and collecting materials at the time of your workshop is always advised.
Can I use a purchase order for my hotel costs?

No, unfortunately the conference hotel does not accept purchase orders. To make payment arrangements, please contact the hotel reservations line at 1-617-426-2000 or visit BostonParkPlaza.comTo reserve your room book online or contact Reservations at 1-617-426-2000 and request to make your reservation under the name “Building Learning Communities” for our discounted rate.

Note: Conference registration does not include hotel stay.
