Pre-conference Session

Building Learning Communities: Putting It All Together (presenting with Seth Bowers)

In this four hour session you will learn the basics of information literacy, plus have the opportunity to work with members of our team as you explore how to build a blog, create a podcast or start a wiki. Learn how to integrate all of these tools together in meaningful and effective ways. Our team will show you how it all fits together and will be available during the course of the conference week to work on projects and integrate new ideas. The results will be expanded opportunities for authentic work, global audience and your students making a knowledge contribution.

Main Session Workshops

Mapping Your Curriculum with Google Maps

In today’s globally connected society, geography is more important than ever. Google provides Google Maps, a free online tool that can truly enhance curriculum. This Web-based software is easy enough to use with all ages, so even your elementary grade students will be able to dive right in. In this session, you will have the opportunity to learn how to build a tour within Google Maps – complete with descriptions, links and images. Great for ANY subject area.

Social Media

Authentic audience, feedback and working as a team can motivate students to increase the quantity and quality of their work. This workshop will explore ways teachers unfamiliar with the interactivity now available on the Web can publish work, share online research and collaborate as a team.

Podcasting for Beginners

This workshop is for teachers who are new to podcasting and would like to get started. We will cover the basics of how to plan, record and publish your podcast. Learn more about how to harness this powerful community building tool.
